Piles Coppice

Piles Coppice is a Warwickshire wood, managed by the Woodland Trust.  It is however only "just across the road" (the A46) from Coventry.

It is classified as a " Semi-natural Ancient Woodland ".  It is mainly "Broadleaved Woodland", rated by the Woodland Trust as "Well Worth a Visit".  Paths are well maintained, and visitors are welcomed by a simple notice at the main entrance:

Redland Meadow (open grassland between Piles Wood and Brandon Wood) enhances the overall value as a place to go walking.  The path south to Brandon Road until recently crossed the railway line by a level crossing without gates - this path has now been diverted further East, to join Brandon Road opposite the entrance to Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve.   The old path down to where the level crossing was, now takes you to a path beside the railway which leads under the A46 and into Claybrookes Marsh.  Plenty of scope for extended walks!
