Photos

Most of the colour photos on this site were taken with my Fujifilm Finepix 4900 digital camera.

Most were taken at a resolution of 1600x1200, JPEG encoded at a compression factor of about 15 (As defined by PaintShop Pro).

For publication as illustrations on this site, most have been reduced to about 400x300 and saved as JPEG files at a compression factor of 60.  This produced a file of about 17KB compared to the original of 300KB.

These reduced size photos are adequate to liven up these pages, and give readers an idea of some of the sights - and they download quickly.  If anyone would like a copy of the full size file, please ask.

Coventry Evening Telegraph Photos

The "Urban Walks" transcripts are illustrated by a scanned black & white copy from the photocopied articles.  They have the advantage of reminding all who read the original, and provide a visual clue to the original.

This has now been removed, because:

• It was not up to date, and hard to keep in line with rest of site,
• It caused a heavy load when used, risking that the daily download limit on my ISP to be exceeded,
• It was no longer necessary for those with broadband, and too slow &/or unreliable for those still on dial-up
