City Development Directorate Culture and Leisure Get healthy …Just Walk It
A range of six colourful, easy to follow leaflets have been specially produced which show walking routes linking Parks, urban greenspace and woodlands in a circulatory route allowing walkers to complete a self-guided trail. The six walks, all under the title Just Walk It , cover areas of Radford, Foleshill, Longford, the Coventry Canal, Canley Ford and Brook, Canley Woodlands and Tile Hill Woodlands. Three of the six leaflets were produced in partnership with Coventry Primary Care Trust and the Healthy Walks project - with funding from the Single Regeneration Budget. This project is aimed specifically at the Foleshill area to encourage people to take up walking as a means to avoid or recover from ill health. They were devised in response to an earlier highly successful series of walks, which encouraged people to use the greenspace links that lead from the urban areas of the City to the parks and countryside. The Just Walk It leaflets are free from: local Libraries, the Tourist Information Center, Youth Clubs, Schools, Area Co-ordination network outlets as well as, selected Medical Centres, Doctors Surgeries, and Older People's Groups in the target areas. Councillor Ann Lucas , Cabinet Member (Area Co-ordination and Leisure, Arts and Sport) said, "There are lots of interesting places to walk in the city, often people just don't realise what is available close to them. These leaflets will make finding a route that anyone can follow much easier. Walking is fun and can be really good for you too!" For residents in the Foleshill area of the city there are also two
weekly-led walks from Foleshill Sports and Leisure Centre, Livingstone
Road. These take place on Wednesdays 10.30am -11.30am, and Thursdays
12.30pm -1.30 pm. They are currently offering a FREE sauna to anyone who
attends two of the weekly walks. For more information please contact
