News - Deer Park now open to visitors

The Deer Park opened to visitors in 2011.

Two areas have been opened to visitors:

  1. The "Discover Brown" trail.  This is a walk round the new open grassland to the south shown on a copy of part of the notice at the entrance at "YOU ARE HERE" point on the map.  It then takes you round five more similar notices, each of which has "Capability Brown" telling you how he developed the park in 1771, and how some aspects which have vanished over the years are now being restored.

You share the grassland with a flock of sheep!

  2. The "Wildflower Meadow".   This was fist opened some years ago, using just the NE corner of the Deer Park.  in 2011 more paths were added, and some of them let visitors go further west.

Leaflets and maps to support these have not yet been published, but hopefully will be soon.
