Bunsons Wood

Clearing in Bunsons Wood - Aug-2002

Bunsons Wood is a Coventry Nature Conservation Sites (CNCS) described as Ancient Woodland (AW)

The main footpaths in the area stay just outside the wood.  There are however many paths within the wood, though they are not well defined.  The trees are well spaced, letting light reach the forest floor, so that in summer some of the paths become blocked by brambles, nettles or bracken.  The paths shown on the map represent at best a suggestion of what you might find!

However this makes the wood a good area to explore, and well worth a visit.

Note: The path round the eastern edge of the wood is shown as a public right of way on the OS map, but as it approached Thompson's road, it appears to have been diverted as shown on the Coventry Walks map, emerging onto Thompson's Road between Nos 41 and 49 (43, 45 and 47 do not exist).

Good for Dogs rating: 1 dog

Worth exploring, but most dogs I met there were on leads.  Farmland is nearby, and the hedges are not dog-proof, but I did not see any farm animals.
