Alan Higgs Centre - Panorama from Allard
Way : Mar-2005
The Alan Higgs Centre in Allard Way is a new Leisure Centre and Football Academy.
For more information about sporting facilities, evolving plans for Environmental Projects and how to contact the centre,

http://www.covsf.com/ahc.html.
The main part of the site has a new footpath which the public can use, and a new bridge has been build over the River Sowe, connecting to the Sowe Valley Footpath. To the south of the site the green open space at present remains largely unchanged apart from the planting of some new trees just south of the football pitches and a new hedge alongside the new fence, but it is planned to do more landscaping and improvements in this area soon. To the north-east of the site extensive tree planting, plus the creation of wetlands and ponds forms the basis of a nature area - this area will not be open to the general public, but will include provision for visits by, e.g. groups of local school children.
The construction of the new bridge will allow the old "bridge" (actually just a large pipe bridge with a flat top, but no handrail) to be closed.
The current footpath situation is shown on Map33 T18-U18 & Map43 T19, or better viewed via All Maps page at 100% size.
